Are the Melungeons the Lost Tribes of Israel?

WHO ARE THE DANITES OF ISRAEL?

By Israel Villa

Introduction

There are 12 tribes of Jacob who is Israel.  The tribe of Dan was the fifth child born of Jacob.  Each tribe had certain distinct functions in the nation; Judah is the leader and good with hands Deuteronomy 33:7, Genesis 49:10, Issachar knew the times to do things! Chronicles 12:32, the Levites were priests, and so on.  The specialty of the Danites was the building of ships and commerce by sea, Judges 5:17.

Reading Greek and Egyptian history, trade by sea was very profitable.  Egypt made sails for ships and maintained a fleet on the Nile, and at Tanis near Goshen the land of their Israelite slaves.  The Egyptians needed builders, rowers and navigation for their ships, the tribe of Dan excelled in this. Ezekiel 27:7, Exodus 1:13, 14.

The best Greek traditions relate to an establishment of Danites in Athens and Argos Greece called Danai, 1556 to 1500 B. C.  The leaders were Cecrops and Danus. These Danites were still loosely under Egyptian control at this time. Deuteronomy 28:48.  The Israelites were called Egyptian just like Moses in Midian and Joseph with the eleven in Canaan burying their father Jacob. Exodus 2:15-19, Exodus 5:7. 8, 11.  After Israel's exodus from Egypt to the promise land, the Danites settles land in the south and the north in Israel.  In 1226 they started a large shipping trade.  In history, northern Dan became known as Dardan, Dane, Southern Dan known as Danaan, Joshua 19 Chapter.  Read old books of history listed on the reference page.

A historian named W. E. Gladstone says the siege of Troy was Danai against Dardanian, Israel was known to have quite a few civil wars.  The Dardanians were pushed by the Danai to Byzantium, and there they divided into two groups.  One went to Europe by the Danube River they names after themselves.  The other crossed the Black Sea settling in the region of the great river Danias or Tanais (the Don) in South Russia.  Here they were known as Thyssa Getae.  They pushed westward leaving names like Danieper (Dnepr), Danester (Dniestr), Eri Danus (Rhine), Rhodanus (Rhone).  Then finally settling in Denmark (Dan mark), or Mark of Dan.

The southern Danites were masters in the west, the Mediterranean, and Spain's Iberian Peninsula Cyprus, Rhodes, Malta, Crete, Sicily, Sardinia, Corsica, Carthage, Elba, Bulgaria, and finally the British Isles became occupied by Dan with remnants of the other eleven tribes of Israel with them.  In Ezekiel 27:19 the Danites have a settlement in Javan (Greece).  In Irish documents, Dan and Asher are known as Phoenicians, they came to Ireland (Ivermine, Ibernie, Iberia) out of Spain, from the word Eber or Hebrew, Genesis 10:21, Luke 3:35, they came sometime before 1000 BC.  They were the old Scottish kings.  The Black Israelites came to Ireland as the Celts and Cimbri circa 550 B. C. they were the Black Irish.  These Black Irish were the great Danish Viking kings and pirates that harassed their Black English brothers.  As Caucasians began to take over, Black Israelites clans were broken down to wandering Gypsy's (meaning Egypt), Gitan's or Moors.  Many migrated or were sold as slaves in America's south and some of the Caribbean Islands.  The White Gypsy's are poor convert (travelers) from Europe.  You have to ask questions when seeking Dan like in the book of Jonah 1:8, 9.  The curse of Daniel still upon us, so seek in wisdom, faith, hope and charity, 1 Corinthians 13:9-13.

Part 1

THE STORY OF THE TRIBE OF DAN FROM THE SCRIPTURES

          1760 B. C.

     (1)  GENESIS 28: 13-15

  • Yahawah tells Jacob as he promised his father's Abraham and Isaac, that his seed (descendants) shall inherit the land of Canaan and spread to the west, east, north, and south, and all of the families of the earth, shall be blessed by their works.  This began with Moses, then the wars of Joshua, the judges, King David, and his heir King Solomon, expanding Israel's dominion by land and sea, to the four corners of the earth.  Bringing the Lord's divine laws and culture to the pagan nations.  The tribe of Dan was one of the pioneers of the expansion of the Israelites influence by sea. Deuteronomy 4: 1-10, Psalms 147:19-20

     (2)  GENESIS 30:1-6

  • Dan, the fifth son born of Jacob who is Israel, first born son of Rachel by her handmaid Bilhah, two of the four wives of Jacob.  Dan means "Yahawah has judged." Daniel - Yahawah's judge.

     (3)  GENESIS 49:1, 2, 16, 17

  • Jacob gathers his 12 sons and their tribes to foretell their future in these last days.

  • Dan shall judge his people; the mighty Samson of Dan fulfills this prophecy when he single handedly destroyed the Philistines Egyptians that oppressed the Israelites, judges thirteenth to the sixteenth chapters.  Later in history you will find the Danites applying colorful titles as a judge. Samson was instructed by the Lord to never cut his hair, but wear it long as a symbol of his super human strength.  This became a custom in Israel, especially among Danite men as we will read later in part two.

  • The tribal symbol of the Danites is the adder snake, this was the symbol on their camp standard beginning in the wilderness, on relics found in the places where they traveled, and on Israelite Jewish temples and synagogues like the one on Central Park, Fifth Avenues and sixty-fifth Street in New York.  Their cunning in war, ambush tactics, and snake like hunting skills were noted by Moses.  He placed their fighting men in the rear guard of the judges, six hundred Danites left their tribe in their land to the south, and became like roaming thieves and pirates on land, and at sea amongst Israelites and Gentiles alike.  Numbers 10:25, Judges 18 Chapter.

     (4)  DEUTERONOMY 33: 22

  • Dan is like a lions whelp (young lion). Curious, energetic, restless and adventurous.

  • When young lions get to that age when they leave their pride family, they roam in groups of two or more like bullies, seeking food, territory, and challenges for mates.  They have no problem with taking these things by force from other other beasts of the earth if they can, other lions included.  In Jeremiah, 8:16 Dan's name is used to describe the coming of the gentiles against Israel in war.

  • Bashan means fertile land, Laish; Dans northern city is located in Bashan.  The leap of Dan from Bashan pertains to the distant lands they would travel to in the earth by land and sea.

     (5)  JOSHUA 19: 40-48
  • Joshua gives the Danites the seventh lot of land consisting of eighteen cities south west in  Canaan.  Japho or Joppa later became a major Israelite seaport. A group of six hundred unruly Danites felt their lot was way too small, so they stubbornly traveled north and took Leshem (Laish) from the Zidonian Canaanites by war, without council from the elders of Israel, defying the laws of war, Deuteronomy 20:10-12, Proverbs 20:18.  They also terrorized the Ephraimites in their land and took a Levite priest hostage, and set up graven images.  Before the Danites took Laish (which means lion), they pitched camp in an area of Judah and named it Mahaneh - Dan after their father Dan.  There is no record that they asked Judah's permission.  From there they took Laish and named it Dan or Dan-Jaan after their father Dan.  Judges 18:12, 27-31. 2 Samuel 24:6.  This custom of naming things and places after their father Dan will be an occurring practice to follow their migrations later on in Part two.

     (6)  JUDGES 1:34, 35

  • The southern Danites are forced to fight an independent guerilla war siege battle, trapped in the  mountains by the Amorite Canaanites.  The tribe of Joseph later rescues them.  They become close allies later in the split of the nation of Israel.

    (7)  JUDGES 5:7, 14,17

  • Deborah, the Ephraimite of the tribe of Joseph was a mother and a guide in Israel against the Canaanites.  She wondered why the Danites remained in their ships at sea and did not assist them in this particular war against the Canaanites.  For the Danites to remain in ships, they had to have colonies abroad to supply and maintain their ships most likely.

    (8)  1006 B. C. I CHRONICLES 12:23-35

  • David of Judah is anointed king of all the twelve tribes of Israel.  The Danites are there in Hebron with their experts of war to witness David's coronation.

    (9)  PSALMS 104:24-27, PSALMS 107: 23 -30

  • King David writes about his experiences at sea, the adventurous voyages of merchant ships and crews, the beasts of the sea, the adventurous voyages of merchant ships and their crews, the beast of the sea small and great like the serpent dinosaur leviathan.  The Danites no doubt were among these expert sailors on David's ship, having knowledge of the sea.

    (10)  PSALMS 72: 1, 10, 11

  • David prophesies the crowning of his son Solomon as king after him, and how his son would establish diplomatic ties of tribute with the leaders of many nations by ships from Tarshish (Spain), to Sheba in Africa.

     (11)  992 B. C. I  Kings 10:22, 23

     (12)  2 CHRONICLES 2:11-16, KINGS 7:13,14

  • Huram the Canaanite vassal king of Tyre sends Hiram of Napthali, whose mother was a Danite, to assist King Solomon in the building of the Lord's temple at Jerusalem.  Much wood from Lebanon was shipped down by floats (barges) from the seaports of Zebulon at Tyre with the Danites of Laish, to the seaport at the Danite city of Joppa (Japho) in the south.

     (13)  EXODUS 31:1-6

  • Looking back, Aholiab the Danite was an expert craftsmen during the time of Moses.  With Bezaleel of Judah, Aholiab devised cunning works of gold, silver, brass, the cutting of stones, and carving of timber to beautify the ark and the tabernacle vessels.  This skill was passed down through their children as we read about Hiram the son of a Danite mother, the fashions and decor of the garments and cities of Israel, the carved works of stone and timber, and the artful designed of ships.

     (14)  I Chronicles 4:14

  • The tribe of Judah had a whole valley called Charashim set aside for their craftsmen.  I am sure some Danites were with them, or Dan had a similar area in their land for craftsmen.

     (15)  862 B. C., JONAH 1: 3-16

  • Jonah the Zebulonite goes to the Danite city of Joppa to get aboard a ship to Tarshish.  Who were these mariners in verse five? Who might the shipmaster be in verse six?  Which God did they cry to that requited sacrifices and vows, verse sixteen? Psalms 50-5  By a preponderance of the evidence, they had to be Danite merchants shipmen with their wares.

     (16)  I KINGS 11:29-32

  • Because of the sins of King Solomon. ten tribes defect from his son Rehoboam, of Ephraim, of the tribe of Joseph resigns over Israel's northern lands.

     (17)  2 CHRONICLES 11:13-15

  • The Levites leave the north to dwell with Judah and Benjamin in the south.  Jeroboam sets up the lowest of men as priests instead of the Levites.

     (18)  I KINGS 12: 25-33

  • Jeroboam divides the tribe of Joseph in two, making ten tribes in the north instead of nine, as the Lord prophesied.  JOSHUA 17:17.  Ephraim and Dan were already into idols and graven images from old times, so it is no coincidence that Jeroboam allied with the Danites to make their land one of the centers of idol worship.  To seduce the people from worshipping at Jerusalem, Jeroboam reintroduced the Egyptian cow and calf idols called Hathor and Aphis, to cause Israel to sin as they did in the wilderness. Hosea 4:17, Isaiah 30:1-3.

     (19)  AMOS 8:14

  • For hundreds of years it was customary for the ten tribes of the north to swear by the face of the idols and graven images of Samaria in Mt. Ephraim, and the land of Dan.  This is because the Lord said not to swear on anything Mathew 5:33-37, Leviticus 19:12.

     (20)  I KINGS 22:48-50

  • Jehoshaphat, out of line of King Rehoboam, and Ahaziah, out of the line of King Jeroboam, tried to reunify the nation by attempting to build a navy together at Ezion-Geber to go to Tharshish.  But the Lord had those ships destroyed.  The Zebulonite ships at Zidon, and the Danite ships at Joppa, Tharshish, and other colonies abroad were still operating as we have already read about Jonah who lived years after these two Kings.

     (21)  ISAIAH 2:6-8, 12-8, Psalm 74:4-10

  • By the Holy Spirit of the Almighty Lord, Isaiah and King David wrote about the fall of the whole nation of Israel.  This must have seemed like the end of the world for the Israelites when the Assyrians in 722 B.C., and the Babylonians in 586 B.C., destroyed the carved works, the idols, synagogues, pictures of art, and stole the treasures of the land.  They also destroyed the forest of Bashan in Dan's northern land, and the ships of Tharshish on the coasts.

     (22)  2 KINGS 17:3-23, 2 ESTRUS 13:40-45

  • The Assyrian King Shalmaneser takes the ten northern tribes into captivity in Assyria (Iraq), and surrounding cities around 722 B. C.  The Babylonians with Medes and the Persians take down the Assyrians.  605 B. C. The ten tribes of Ephraim, Manasseh, Rueben, Simeon, Dan, Napthali, Gad, Asher, Issachar, and Zebulon escape the multitude of the heathen and sail by ships to a further country where mankind never dwelt called Arsareth.  Today it is called America. The Danites I believe played a major part in the acquiring of these ships, and navigation of this fleet around Africa, and across the Atlantic Ocean

     (23)  So we have at this time four groups of Danites fanning out to the west, east, north and south of the Holy Land of  Israel.

1.     The southern Danites in their original lands allotted to them by Joshua.

2.     The six hundred Danites that left the south and established the northern city of Laish in Bashan.

3.     The group left Laish, Bashan in the north, and from the seaport city of Joppa in the ship, and in the south by ship, and settled in Javan (Greece), Tarshish ( Spain), and North Africa, and lands abroad in the ancient world.

 4.     The group that left Laish, Bashan, by King Shalmaneser into Assyrian captivity, but later broke out with ten tribes of Israelites to America by ships.

     (24)  586 B.C. EZEKIEL 27:17-19

  • This book of Ezekiel is being written during the period of the tribes of Judah, Benjamin, and Levi's captivity in Babylon, (today's Kuwait), by the hand of the Ethiopians King Nebuchadnezzar.  Despite these massive deportations of the Israelites, remnants of them always remained in their homeland, even up until this present day in Dimona, Israel 2 CHRONICLES 30:1-6, 10, 11, 18, LUKE 2:36, ISAIAH 1:9.  During Ezekiel's time, remnants of Judah and Israel that escaped the captives continued business of trade in the land, and from colonies abroad.  The Danites especially sailed to and fro with Javan of Japheth from their base in Greece.  Exploring and trading their exotic wares of jewelry, pottery, tools, weapons of iron...carved works of stone and timber, spices and idol trinkets of divination at fairs and markets.

     (25)  JEREMIAH 15:1-7

  • The blessings and the curses never left the Israelites as they spread throughout the earth.  Just as great they became, their gradual decline by death, sword, famine, and captivity was even greater.  Due to their sins against the Lord's convent he made with their father's at Mt. Sinai, even their greater victories in battle eventually ended in their destruction as a nation in 70 A.D.

     (26)  165 B. C. I MACCABEES 12:1-3, 14:16-23, 15:22-24

  • Judas Maccabees the Levite priest king of Israel at this time fights valiant wars against the heathen to preserve sovereign freedom of the land of Israel.  Letters were sent to specific cities of Israelites throughout the ancient world to renew alliances for the defense of the Holy Land.  One of these cities was called Lacedaemon (Lacedemon) in southern Greece.  In I Maccabees 12:20, 21 it is found in writing, that the Lacedemonias and the Jews are brethren, and that they are of the stock of Abraham.  Lacedemon, Greece and Javan are on the same land.  The Lacedemonias were a colony of Danites.  Study the maps and put the pieces together for yourself. JOHN 5:39, ISAIAH 65:15.

     (27)  ACTS 2:1-11

  • The feast if the first fruits or pentacost as it is called here in Acts, was one of the holy days when Israelite Jews came to Jerusalem out of every nation to celebrate.  Some of the same lands where these devout Jews came from are the same areas in and around Greece, Africa and Asia minor where Judas and his brothers wrote letters to the Lacedemonians and other Israelite colonies I Maccabees 15:22-24 - Cyprus, Lycia, Cnidus, Crete - Acts 27:4,5,7

     (28)  33 A.D.

     (29)  62 A. D. - ACTS CHAPTERS 27, 28

  • The Apostle Paul was on a Roman prison ship bound for Italy, to be tried by Cesar.  Paul mentions many Roman lands and islands in habited by Israelites with Roman names.  The vessel Paul was on became shipwrecked on the island of Melita (Malta), they were received not too kindly by the people they called Barbarians.  When Paul was bitten by a snake and survived, the Barbarians called him God.  Paul healed the sick and the people honored him and supplied him and the others on the ship with goods for their journey.  How did these Barbarians get to this island?  Why would they call Paul a God? Why did Paul heal them?  Could these Barbarians have been a remnant of the twelve tribes of Israel?  Could these have been a colony of Danites?  Let the scriptures speaks...Psalms 82:6, Luke 10:34, Mark 16:17, 18, Matthew 10:10:5-8, Deuteronomy 32:26.

     (30)  ROMANS 1:14-16, GALATIANS 3:28, 29

   (31)  EZEKIEL 48:1-9, 22-27

  • Starting from the most northern border of Israel to the southern border, Ezekiel writes a list of the future lands of the twelve tribes of Israel upon their return to the land.  The tribe of Dan is listed first, they will keep their northern city of Laish in Bashan which they took when six hundred of them left the southern land allotted to them by Joshua.

    (32)  EZEKIEL 48:30 -32

  • These are the names if the twelve tribes if Israel that will be on the gates of the new city of Jerusalem, compare this to Revelation 21:10-14.  Even though the tribe of Dan isn't mentioned in Revelation 7:3-8, this is just a list of 144,000 men that will be the judgment body of the nation under the twelve Apostles and Christ.  Revelation 7:3-8 is not to be used to determine the list of tribes that will be saved, this is 144,000 men, not the whole nation.  We either list them by their birth in Genesis, or even place Judah first, then list them by birth, being that Judah is the head tribe, I Chronicles 5:12.

    (33)  ISAIAH 60:9-12

  • In the new kingdom of Yahawah and Yahawasi, the ships of Tarshish will be rebuilt to again carry the Israelites to and fro in the earth.  The gentiles shall bring their kings and their riches to the gates of Jerusalem, to the holy one of Israel and his people.  I don't think I would be too mistaken in assuming that the Danites once again will be the chief mariners of the ships of Tharshish.

    *GENESIS 49:17, 18

  • The tribe of Dan awaits their salvation, oh Lord.

     CONCLUSION - I KINGS 8:46-53, JOHN 10:14-16

  • Jesus Christ spoke of how he would gather the lost sheep of the house of Israel by the powers of The Almighty Father in Heaven.  When the captive children of Israel face Jerusalem, pray in the name of Yahawah, and repent their sins.  He will hear from the heaven and save them from all lands where he has scattered them.  Praise the Lord. Matthew 15:24, 25:31-34 Ephesians 2:11-22, Isaiah 43:5-15.
